For years the story about Estero went like this: winter is when it happens, summer is when it waits. That was mostly true when the village revolved around outlet shopping and a handful of chain restaurants along Corkscrew. It is not true anymore. Look at what is on the calendar between now and mid-October and a different Estero shows up, one that treats July and August as programming months instead of dead ones.
The shift did not happen by accident. A new bayfront restaurant opened in January, Miromar rebuilt its weeknight schedule around locals rather than tourists, and Hertz Arena stacked its fall tour dates before season starts instead of after. If you already live here, the practical question is where to spend a weeknight and a Saturday morning without driving to Naples or Fort Myers. The answers have gotten better.
The Eastern Edge Is Now the Interesting Edge
The most consequential opening in Estero this year sits at the water. Acqua Bistecca opened to the public Jan. 21 at 5500 Coconut Road at Saltleaf at Estero Bay, and although it is just west of Estero, the restaurant carries a Bonita Springs address. The distinction matters less than the location does. This is the first serious fine-dining room to open on the bay edge of the village in years, and it did not arrive quietly. The concept marks Mark Wilson's first restaurant, and to develop the menu he enlisted Michael Mina, chef and owner of The Mina Group, who has opened 73 restaurants since 1991 and lists 16 currently, including a second Acqua Bistecca in Washington, D.C.
Why this matters for residents: for a decade the gravitational center of Estero dining was Coconut Point and Miromar. Both are inland, both are shopping-anchored, both empty out at 9 p.m. By day the new site sits in the shadow of the $750 million Ritz-Carlton Residences Estero Bay development, and by evening it offers sunset views across the bay. That is a different kind of dinner than Estero has offered before, and it puts the eastern edge of the village on the map for people who used to reflexively drive to Fifth Avenue South.
The rest of the local dining bench has quietly deepened around it. Recent openings in the area include Casa Blu, Canary Club, Olde Florida Chop House, Mamma Anna Trattoria, Suji, La Fontanella Ristorante, Oak & Stone, and Pezzo Pizza + Bar. Oak & Stone sits at 10191 Estero Town Commons Place in a 5,300 square-foot space seating 180 guests, and features what the brand calls the region's largest self-serve beer wall with over 50 rotating taps.
What Miromar Does on a Tuesday Now
The interesting thing about Miromar Outlets is not the stores. It is what the property does after the stores close. The summer calendar is built around recurring weeknight programming aimed at locals, not day-trip shoppers.

The Friday poker tournaments at 810 Entertainment are free Texas Hold 'Em events built around friendly competition and prizes, welcoming both beginners and experienced players. Wednesday's Music Bingo mixes chart-topping hits, throwbacks, trivia twists, and interactive bingo rounds from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Neither is designed for the tourist who is here for three days in February. Both are designed for people who live ten minutes away and want somewhere to go on a weeknight.
The 5K on the property is the other tell. The Shop, Dine & Dash 5K at Miromar Outlets takes place Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., with check-in at 9:30 a.m. at 810 Entertainment, Suite 50, and it invites both runners and walkers. Family-friendly, on-property, and priced for locals.
If Miromar's Saturday market skews household staples, the other side of the village runs a different one. The Thursday morning market at Coconut Point features fresh produce, seafood, meats, cut flowers, locally harvested honey, baked goods, and handcrafts. Two markets, two different weekly rhythms, both walkable in under thirty minutes.
The Hertz Arena Fall Stack Starts Earlier Than You Think
Look at the arena's schedule between now and Halloween and the pattern is obvious. Estero used to import its concert nights in winter. In 2026 the touring calendar arrives before Labor Day.

Some of these are makeup dates for shows that shifted earlier in the year, which is why the late summer and fall calendar is thicker than usual. The Gabriel Iglesias date was rescheduled from April 9, 2026, and Los Tigres del Norte was rescheduled from May 22, 2026.
Two practical notes for residents who have not been in a while. Parking at Hertz Arena is now fully cashless, is available on site, and ranges from $10 to $30 depending on the event. Overflow parking may be located on the Northwest side of Miromar Outlets in the lot closest to the lake and I-75, with shuttles provided depending on the event. On sold-out shows that overflow lot fills fast, so if you are within biking distance of the arena that is often the faster arrival.
The Estero River Is the Cheap Version of a Boat
The single most underused summer amenity in the village is the river. Koreshan State Park at 3800 Corkscrew Road rents boats directly at the Ranger Station without reservations, and the pricing has stayed remarkably flat.
Canoe rentals are $7 for the first hour and $5 each additional hour, single kayaks are $10 for the first hour and $5 each additional hour, and tandem kayaks are $15 for the first hour and $10 each additional hour, all rented at the Ranger Station with no reservations. A family of four can be on the water for under $30.
The river itself does what most Southwest Florida waterways do not: it stays interesting the whole way. Boating on the Estero River is a popular park activity, with the river being a brackish tidal waterway that leads to Estero Bay approximately 3 miles west. River otters, alligators, manatees and dolphins can all be found along the river, and Koreshan is home to over 100 bird species, including swallow-tailed kites, bald eagles, bobwhites, belted kingfishers and many wading bird species.
One caveat worth knowing before you plan an overnight. Effective Oct. 31, 2025, the campgrounds at Koreshan State Park are temporarily closed. The day-use park is still open on its normal schedule, with the office and ranger station running 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the historic settlement open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you were counting on tent sites for a weekend, they are not available right now. Deluxe safari tent glamping through Timberline Glamping remains available, costing $145 to $180 per night.
Two Things Residents Are Actually Tracking
Everything above is discretionary. These next two items are the ones neighbors bring up unprompted.
Corkscrew Road. The Village of Estero posted a Corkscrew Road Widening Phase 2 update from Lee County on June 5, 2026, and separately noted that the precautionary boil water notice was lifted for homes and businesses along Corkscrew Road east of Interstate 75. If your commute uses that stretch, keep the Village's project page bookmarked. Timeline changes happen there first.
Koreshan volunteer capacity. This is a small thing, but a real one for residents who want to be involved. The winter volunteer season, December through March, typically fills up 10 months in advance at Koreshan. If you have been thinking about signing up, summer is when you actually get in.
A Note on Which Estero This Is For
Everything on this page is written for people who already live here. The point is not to sell the village. The point is to hand a resident a calendar. A dinner at the bay on Wednesday, poker at 810 on Friday, kayaks on the river Saturday morning, farmers market before it, a fall concert already booked. Estero used to require a drive to fill an evening. In summer 2026 it mostly does not.
